Q&A with Coach Blaise
Coach Blaise is a graduate of Drexel University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in food science. He played for Drexel Men’s Club Soccer team and has been an avid climber for over four years. Coach Blaise takes pride in being a coach while having fun too! He started coaching at Kinetic Climbing because he loves the sport and he wants to pass what he has learned on to others. We sat down with Coach Blaise for a quick Q&A.
What first got you into climbing?
I stared climbing because one of my good friends who I grew up playing soccer with told me to come with him one time. I’ve stuck with the sport ever since!
What would be the first thing you would say to someone who has never climbed before?
Rock climbing is an equal combination of physical, mental and technical skill. Understanding how to utilize all three aspects together will make you the best there is, but be patient with it!
Do you have a specific style of climbing or are there any particular moves you get psyched to do?
If I had to pick a favorite climbing style or move it would definitely be dynos or dynamic movement. It takes some skill and I love flying through the air!
Any fun facts we should know about you?
The past few summers I’ve had the opportunity to travel and cook in France and Denmark. While there I had the chance to check out a few awesome climbing gyms.
